The townland of Drumnamahane Island appears on the Placenames Database of Ireland[1] as does a townland called Drumnamahane[2]. The scanned documents appear to be the same and include both names. The Ordnance Survey of Ireland maps and Google maps only indicate the whereabouts of Drumnamahane Island (roughly in the centre of the triangle formed by Borrisokane, Cloughjordan and Ballingarry). It appears to me that they are one and the same place. To avoid confusion this is not an island in the sense of being surrounded by a body of water, my understanding of the name is that it originates from the small watercourses and marshy land surrounding the area. I'll try to talk to someone resident in the area shortly. Belmonter (talk) 22:05, 26 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

After some local inquiries it appears that these two townlands do both exist (as the Placenames Database suggests). Drumnamahane Island being immediately to the east of Drumnamahane. In recent times Drumnamahane has been used to describe the area of both townlands. See http://maps.osi.ie/mapviewer for location. Belmonter (talk) 22:45, 9 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
