Eaten alive?

[edit]

I believe they're not eaten alive--they should be dead before they're eaten. Badagnani (talk) 03:44, 29 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

In some cultures they are eaten alive. In other cultures, "Drunken shrimp" refers to a cooked dish. -Tombrend (talk) 01:47, 10 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The photo featured is clearly that of dead cooked prawns, they are pink

It seems to be a matter of personal reference. Some critics, after being used to eating the creatures drunk and alive, think that boiling them in hot water is cruel. See this reference: [1] Ssh83 (talk) 18:44, 13 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Note that the uncooked version is a health hazard, for the parasite-borne disease paragonimiasis, which infects more people in China than any other country.Pechmerle (talk) 07:16, 30 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I had this in Hangzhou city, China. Shrimps lying in a bowl full of wine, vinegar, sauce and pepper, some of them are still alive, you can feel the jumping in your mouth when you eat it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by AtticusWong (talkcontribs) 04:22, 10 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
