Semi protection[edit]

{{editprotected}}

the page should be placed under semi protection, because if you check the logs people keep vandalizing it and most of the people that do this are anonymous. This should be indefinite or until more people start to care for it. As this is my school I have been checking often and the quality of the article has seriously degraded in the past couple of months.

I will try to restore the contain to it's accuracy, but semi protection would be welcome.

The right place to request protection is WP:RFPP. But the rough rule of thumb is that an article needs to have over 15 IP vandalisms per day before semiprotection will be considered. Based on the history of this article, semiprotection would not be warranted. CMummert · talk 18:04, 16 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please bring up to date[edit]

This article contains contain that would need to be brought up to date. Since I am no longer part of this school it is hard to do so Louispq (talk) 00:31, 6 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Teachers[edit]

Words like "The teachers have superb skills" are hardly compliant with WP:NPOV. @kshay (talk) 11:20, 28 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

On content reduction based on "irrelevency"[edit]

Why has the content of the page been cut under the context of "irrelevancy". In fact the last editor to undo a change has experience in school profiles, and should know better than to delete in such a premature manner. In effect, it might be true that the content has been downgraded in its current version, and could use the help of filtering and editing, but still that does not garner an entire facelift whereby only a sentence or two describing the profile of the school is left. Please, if you are an editor, edit the context and quality of the content, not the quantity. It is important to maintain objectivity, but at the same time it is not constructive to "delete" all and any 'potential' "irrelevant" content. Topics regarding the sports activities, uniforms, newspapers, type of academic program, etc. are important and identifiable characteristics of the given article subject, being Dubai American Academy, and henceforth are justified in being maintained in the content of the article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.170.250.193 (talk) 23:35, 29 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The quality is extremely poor. Uniform, sports, awards, newspapers are not generally considered to be notable subjects without any supporting reasons, and should not carry WP:UNDUE weight. And being uncited WP:TRIVIA, they are subject to being removed by any competent editor.--Terrillja talk 20:56, 6 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
As an uninvolved editor, I was first tempted to agree with Terillja, as much of that seemed unnecessary. But, looking at it in more detail, Terillija removed a lot of information that is critical to a description of the school. The first half of "Classes" is necessary to describe what type of curriculum they use, and that they offer IB. The School Activity section is entirely appropriate, as we regularly list, in general, what types of extra-curricular activities a school has. It could use some trimming. Likewise, a Sports section is also appropriate, but should probably be trimmed to a single paragraph. We should provide an overview of what sports teams exist, and note any that have been particularly high achieving. The Uniform activity does not belong, nor does the Awards section. Terilja, do you mind if I attempt to restore those parts? Qwyrxian (talk) 02:21, 7 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

New version[edit]

I made a new version incorporating my suggestions above. Just before I did so, Mrdubai had said in an edit summary, "I want to change back everything to how the page was before. Basically I want to get it back to the version before July 6th when somehow everything got deleted." Note that that is not an option. Our job, as an encyclopedia, is not to include every possible piece of information about the school--we want a summary of the most important information. So, in my edit, I kept the type of classes the school covers, and 1 paragraph summarizing the school clubs. I didn't include any of the specific results from the sports teams, since the newest were from 2006-2007, and how the students did in competitions 4-5 years ago simply isn't relevant (and most of the results weren't particularly notable in any event). I did not include the uniform info, or the details about the founding of PawPrints, or any of those other tidbits of info that, while interesting to students there, are not of general encyclopedic interest. I hope this helps explain what I did, and also strikes a balance between Terrilja and Mrdubai's position. Qwyrxian (talk) 01:49, 13 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
