Rail scot source

[edit]

An editor ( @10mmsocket: ) dislikes the use of the Railscot source. See diff here. He/she says that it fails WP:UGC and WP:SPS, this is not a reliable source WP:RS. I dispute that it meets the criteria for self-published sources. Laurel Lodged (talk) 14:51, 21 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

See Wikipedia:Reliable_sources/Noticeboard/Archive_376#railscot.co.uk 10mmsocket (talk) 17:00, 21 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Take a look at the last two pages of the given reference. This confirms beyond doubt that this particular document is the work of one man and is both inaccurate and incomplete. It is by definition both self-published source and user-generated content and is therefore not a reliable source. 10mmsocket (talk) 17:17, 21 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
So you admit that it does not breach UGC or SPS?Laurel Lodged (talk) 08:54, 23 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
What?? Of course it breaches both of them, it is the work of one man and is self published. 10mmsocket (talk) 08:56, 23 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Uh? 10mmsocket is right, it does breach both. An RS discussion, which he linked to, concluded it an unreliable source. Not sure what the fuss is about Mattdaviesfsic (talk) 09:16, 23 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
