Pronunciation: where's the stress? And I've seen the name as doo-SHICK-et. Are we sure the township is doo-SHEE-kwit ? kwami (talk) 01:26, 20 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I grew up there and I've never heard "doo-SHICK-et", only "doo-SHEE-kwit" and possibly "duh-SHEE-kwit". While the name is French and origin, it was passed down through both native and frontier histories, the pronunciation does not follow conventional French (or or that matter, English) rules. This: http://listsearches.rootsweb.com/th/read/OHAUGLAI/2003-02/1044302186 is the only thing I could find searching for a guide via google and it's even missing the t that I've always heard. prinzwilhelm (talk)

Thanks for the explanation! Over here in Logan County, nobody ever talks about northern Auglaize County, and I'd never seen the name until I began editing Wikipedia. Nyttend (talk) 02:25, 18 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
