I've gone to town a bit on this article in the last couple of days; if everyone is happy in general with what has been written I'll add another section regarding future proposals and some links.

Also I don't know how to add a contents table - could someone assist?

Cheers, Rodin5

Hi Rodin - I noticed someone doing a lot of work on this article. I haven't had a chance to really look at it in depth yet, but from a galnce it looks OK. Tables of contents automatically appear when there are more than about four sections, so that's no problem (I've added a couple of extra headings). I also plan to take a couple of photos to add to the article in the next few days (I live in St. Clair, only about 1.5 km from the motorway). Grutness...wha? 23:59, 28 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Southernmost

[edit]

Is there a reference available for southernmost? Route 9-CH passes through Punta Arenas (pop 150k, lat 53S), it looks to have dual carriageway with a median in the Google Earth imagery for 2km north of the city. I think the wording could be "one of the southernmost" if it's not a certainty. XLerate (talk) 02:23, 21 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There is no motorway more southern than Dunedin’s. There are dual carriageways in Chile and Argentina farther south, but they’re not motorways. The Dunedin Southern Motorway is the world’s southernmost: separated multi-lane road, grade separated intersections, and 100km speed limit. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 175.36.8.16 (talk) 14:11, 26 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
yes, it’s called google maps. What’s your problem? 175.36.221.169 (talk) 14:05, 14 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Article expansion includes non-motorway section

[edit]

I note that a large amount of the information which has been put into this article in the last few months relates to the caversham by-pass from Anderson's Bay Road to lookout Point. This is not currently part of the Dunedin Southern Motorway, which officially starts at Lookout Point. Grutness...wha? 09:37, 16 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

In case this is of any help to anyone: the section from Andersons Bay to the traffic lights appears to be called "Caversham Bypass Motorway" and the section from the traffic lights to Lookout Point appears to be called "Caversham Valley Road". This is as per LINZ data as supplied to "Terralink Terraview" as at 10 Oct 2010. Daveosaurus (talk) 11:02, 22 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Route positions in km

[edit]

I've removed the figures given as 'km' in the table as they're obviously garbage - stating that the motorway is over 300 km long with, e.g., a 24 km gap between Burnett Street and Aberfeldy Street (the measuring tool I use gives me a distance of 0.175 km between the two although, being Dunedin, it probably feels like 24 km if you're walking up hill).
