Article scope

[edit]

It seems time to review what exactly the scope of this article is. From the lead, it seems to be about the restaurant, but much of the content is about the building. The sources are mixed, but don't seem to establish notability for the restaurant alone, and seeing that the restaurant has moved (closed?), that seems unlikely to change. Before making changes—or even considering deletion—I just wanted to get input, hopefully from locals. — HTGS (talk) 00:08, 16 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@HTGS: I wrote the article just after the earthquakes in a quest to document heritage buildings threatened by demolition. It’s still standing but still closed, and as far as I know, it hasn’t been repaired. The owner of the restaurant is notable and the Dux as a restaurant is also notable (they did the most meals of any restaurant in Christchurch), but much more so as a music venue. The Dux as an institution has diversified; they have a pub in the Central City and their restaurant is in Riccarton (its second post-EQ location). Schwede66 01:09, 16 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
So, in your opinion, should the article favour the building over the restaurant? I have no objection to splitting into two articles, but the current article—since the restaurant/company has moved—reads like it is attempting to cover what appear to be two distinct topics. If the building were the main focus, for instance, I would probably rewrite and expand only the lead sentence. — HTGS (talk) 01:24, 18 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I don't mind. Anybody can come along and develop the restaurant part as a stand-alone article. As long as the new article demonstrates that notability criteria are met, that would be a great improvement. Schwede66 20:47, 20 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
