Contested deletion

[edit]

This article should not be speedy deleted as being about a subject that was invented/coined/discovered by the article's creator or someone they know personally and for lack of asserted importance, because... It has references to it.--113.210.6.47 (talk) 18:30, 31 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for putting reliable reference to the article. I have been removing the delete notification now. - abhilashkrishn talk 20:04, 31 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

June 11 - Reverted edits

[edit]

Hi, I just reverted these good-faith edits made by Mshakir83. It's nothing personal. I felt that the content added was vague, and added peacock phrasing to the article that serves to promote the subject without adhering to NPOV. My edit summary couldn't cover all of it, but here's the gist of it:

  • "Her main aim to be elected into parliament was to break the walls of racism and to promote new politics." The walls of racism haven't been addressed in the article, so how she broke them down remains unclear. Has Malasian parliament historically disallowed certain races? The phrase "to promote new politics" is unclear. Do we mean "to promote new policies"? And if so, isn't that what all politicians do?
  • "Her candidacy also managed to transform the entire political dynamics of Malaysia." Fluff statement. Promotional. We need to quantify that. That statement definitely has potential for controversy, so we need to properly source and explain what that means. What changed? Who was affected?
  • "It has also elevated DAP's status as a multiracial party rather then being accused by their opponents as a chauvanistic party." Chauvinism typically involves gender, not race, so this seems like an apples/oranges comparison, and is confusing.
  • "...her candidacy has enabled the DAP to penetrate into the Malay heartlands which has been a difficult task for the party for a very long time due to wild accusations by rival party UMNO." It is unclear what these wild accusations are, and how they've previously prevented the DAP from penetrating into the Malay heartlands.
  • "She has also captured the attention from the general public as well as the media and is being looked as one of the several Muslim rising stars of DAP alongside Bukit Bendera Member of Parliament, Zairil Khir Johari" This is weasel wording, because we are not clearly defining who considers her a "rising star". Did a certain politician call her a rising star? It's also promotional in tone. Further, for neutrality, we would need a balanced opposite. "Guy #1 considers her a rising star, but Guy #2 considers her a flash-in-the-pan." Cyphoidbomb (talk) 20:19, 11 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Contested deletion

[edit]

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because... Though I haven't done heavy research on the subject, a quick Google search seems to suggest that this individual, a Malaysian lawyer and political candidate, has received significant coverage not only for her political campaigning, but also as the brunt of sexist comments from opposing parties for her political endeavors, which has drawn additional coverage. I'd recommend an AfD as an alternative, but Speedy is a bit too speedy, and nominator, Sreeking has a mere 119 edits under their belt. --Cyphoidbomb (talk) 17:13, 12 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
