It should be noted that E(H) field has, like each force field, a direction and an orientation in every point. Those lines in this image are flow lines, but should represent a set of vectors, too; so an image with E vector could be well. It should also be present a reference to maxwell equations, provided that without them the merge of 'electro' suffix with 'magnetic' term would be senseless.


Error?[edit]

Surely the 2nd diagram is incorrect - because there is a vertical axis of symmetry, there should be a set of E-planes ? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.194.171.29 (talk) 07:12, 4 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, any vertical plane could be called an E-plane in this case of a vertical dipole or monopole - so maybe none of them is the E-plane. There's scope for improvement in both examples; what is described as a Yagi is just shown as a cylinder, what is described as a dipole is somehow fed at one end, and both examples are antennas. Perhaps some photographs of antennas and various waveguide assemblies with the planes drawn on would be better? --catslash (talk) 15:34, 4 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
