Untitled[edit]

The edit summary of the first version of this article indicates that it was written by the daughter of the author. This would be a conflict of interest by Wikipedia standards. The author may not be the best to judge whether or not this biography suject meets WP notability policies. Having said all that, if someone familiar with the subject who does not have a conflict of interest could edit this article, it appears likely that the subject might meet notability standards. Conflict of interest or not, the author has provided several sources that appear to be reliable. This COI mention is a matter of procedure only. Realkyhick 02:40, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for you comments; I am the author. I indicated in the edit summary that the subject was my father (I am his son) in the interests of full disclosure. I think the article is neutral, based on published sources, and he does meet the notability criteria, so I do not think conflict of interest is a problem. See in particular the 5 pages of tributes to him by other ortnithologists, which was cited in the article, published in the journal he edited for 21 years. If an edit of the article by an ornithologist who knew him is required to remove the banner at the top of the article, I may be able to arrange this, some of them are still alive. It seemed neutral to me, so I removed it. Rigadoun (talk) 20:27, 22 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

For what it is worth, i am not an orinthologist, however, i am someone who has had and maintains a lot of interaction with Elizabeth Wasson, the wife of E.A Bergstrom, and mother to the author of this article, P.Bergstrom. I have seen first hand the literature of E.A's life and work, including first hand accounts from E.Wasson Bergstrom, all of which corroborate the information that has been given here. I don't know if this helps but i am willing to vouch for this entry and believe that EA Bergstrom was a humble pioneer who should be recognized on this wiki site without contest. Peter Bergstrom has objectively represented him here. (Jessbett (talk) 22:23, 28 May 2009 (UTC))[reply]
