This information should be verified from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luna_Lovegood into this article.

Her last name could also be a reference to Elliot Lovegood Grant Watson, who wrote numerous books highlighting the insufficiencies of Darwinism after he was raised by a mother who adored Darwin.

Over the past four days I have expanded the information on E.L. Grant Watson on this page, added a list of publications, refs and a photograph.Imago blue 11:24, 12 March 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Imago blue (talkcontribs)

NB There could be some connection between Luna Lovegood and Elliot Lovegood Grant Watson, as I have also heard a suggestion (unverifiable) that buildings at Grant Watson's old school Bedales were models for features of Hogwarts. I think that while Grant-Watson admired Owen Barfield's work (according to his daughter he admired and recommended Barfield's 'Saving the Appearances' to her), and the admiration was mutual (Barfield wrote an introduction to Grant-Watson's 'Mystery of Physical Life), I don't think the two ever met or corresponded. I think Barfield came to his work through his later acquaintance with Josephine Spence. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.77.97.12 (talk) 21:35, 1 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
