Notability

[edit]

User:Clamembert was right to contest the PROD, and I've withdrawn it and deleted the "notability" tag. ERikm has issued enough albums to be notable. Let's hope someone will now turn the present (Feb 2012) promotional review into a decent, objective article. --Stfg (talk) 13:09, 22 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

== Biography ==
ErikM (known as Erik M) is a French musician, composer, and visual artist. His work spans a broad spectrum of electroacoustic sound production, media art, and performance art.
From a young age, in 1987, he became involved in various rock-noise and industrial rock bands, while also dedicating himself to fanzines, street art, and creating his first installations.
Starting in the 1990s, he became one of the leading artists in the fields of sound art, abstract electronic music, and glitch music.
Alongside his repurposing of objects from the media and music industry, ErikM has continually explored sounds derived from the living, the invisible, and the unheard through his intensive practice of phonography.
ErikM is one of the most influential turntablists of his generation, manipulating his various electronic devices with rare elegance. He creates shimmering and captivating soundscapes, which sometimes reference dance electronic music. He collaborates with improvisational musicians and collectives as well as conceptual artists and contemporary music ensembles.
He creates acousmatic and radio works and composes mixed music for instrumental ensembles such as Ensemble Intercontemporain, Ensemble Laborintus, Ensemble Phoenix Basel, Les Percussions de Strasbourg, and Ensemble Dedalus, among others.
He has collaborated with Luc Ferrari, Christian Marclay, Mathilde Monnier, Anthony Pateras, F.M. Einheit, Bernard Stiegler, Thurston Moore, Voice Crack, and created cross-disciplinary works that constitute a singular kaleidoscopic vision, balancing the intimate and the political, the popular and the scholarly.
In addition to his performance and composition activities, documented on countless sound recordings, he has exhibited in numerous galleries and museums with his drawings, photographs, sculptures, and sound installations: Audiosphère in Sofía, Laboratoire de L’art in Paris, Manif d’art 6 in Quebec, bCUBICO Galeria in Recife, Mudam in Luxembourg, Palais de Tokyo in Paris, Galerie Ron Mandos in Amsterdam, Kunstmuseum in St. Gallen, and Euphoria in Brooklyn.
His work undoubtedly reflects his explorations at the intersection of science (phonography, electronic instrument-making, etc.) and his poetic curiosity about the world. 90.39.152.205 (talk) 14:08, 10 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
