Response
[edit]Please note the JPFO webpage noted as a possible copyright issue contains only public domain material published by the State Department as a description of eTrace. In fact, I supplied the State Department document to JPFO for publication. (Computer Guy 2 (talk) 01:45, 13 February 2010 (UTC))

Anonymous Quote
[edit]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ETrace#Controversies
This entire section is a quote from an unattributed statement that claims to be from a retired police commander. However, no name is given and there is no basis for assuming veracity of this opinion without either accompanying evidence or verification of the author's knowledge on this subject. I recommend removing this quote unless this problem is addressed.

Unsourced paragraph
[edit]- Operation Gunwalker has already had deadly consequences with the death of Agent Terry, and countless other murders in Mexico. A less obvious (intended?) consequence is the artificial inflation of ATF's eTrace 'statistics' which will show thousands more U.S. origin guns seized in Mexico - thanks to Operation Gunwalker. The dealers encouraged by ATF to complete sales to traffickers will be penalized with each trace which will show them as the selling dealer of 'crime guns' and may cause them to be labeled as "Criminal Friendly FFL" by ATF. "Criminal Friendly FFL" dealers are subject to more intense scrutiny by ATF Investigators during annual inspections, which could result in loss of their license.
I excised this paragraph as it contains charged language and speculation without RSs.-Ich (talk) 11:51, 11 January 2022 (UTC)
