Needs Rewriting[edit]

The information in this section is valid, though it needs to be rewritten.

initially, the road was intended to be used as a high way to abu dhabi. the name sheikh zayed is given to the road as a memory of the late president of the united arab emirates sheikh zayed bin sultan al nahyan.
the speed lmits in the road range from 100 in the beginning of the road tell 140 towards the en of it near Abu Dhabi Border.
the road mainly was developed and re-launched from the period of 1989 - 1993, when it was converted from a two liner to a four liner road in each side. during the coming decade, the road was subject to alot of changes due to the creation of new sububs and business distrcts, including Dubai Internet City, Dubai Marina, the Gardens, Al Barsha and others. many bridges extend across this road (approximatly around 10 - 12)

2 points[edit]

I have lived in Dubai for over 30 years and differ with two points

  1. the highway was already named Sheikh Zayed road many years prior to the death of Sheikh Zayed.
  2. the speed limit does not indicate 140 at any point. The maximum limit continues to be 120 kph.

Also, the locals do not refer to the Sheikh Zayed road as the Refrigerator Row. There are many other details in Moore's article in the Telegraph that seem odd
