Modifications 29th Oct 2006[edit]

Updated entry for 1976 as I got new information regarding nominees that year.

Improvements[edit]

Suggestions for improvements can go here.

I will have a go at 1976 as the formatting seems off. (Emperor 16:21, 30 October 2006 (UTC))[reply]

I can't see an issue with the formatting, double checked in both IE 6 and 7 and FF - whats the problem you can see? GlennCarter 18:32, 5 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Well the indenting is causing the preformatting formatting to kick in (not only is it ugly, not need and semantically incorrect but it also causes horizontal scrolling problems for people running small screen resolutions - I suspect the style guidlines probably have something to say about its use too). Also the results are clearly just copy and pasted from the Eagle Awards site (they even have WINNER! next to them) with some light formatting done. I;d imagine this would violate the various copyright violation guidelines, leaving the whole shooting match wide open to being removed. The least we could do is apply a consistent style, remove block capitals, etc. We'll have the 2006 results soon so I'll go through them and we can take it from there. I keep meaning to start this but the whole thing is a little intimidating but if I do the current year and then we can discuss it. (Emperor 03:06, 13 May 2007 (UTC))[reply]
I note some of the years have been tidied already, thanks. I've done 1989 and 2006 (using 2004 as template) as well so only 1976 - 1979 left. Haven't yet filled in links in 2006, will do this then start on the earlier years. (GlennCarter 03:06, 07 June 2007 (UTC))[reply]
Tidied 1976. Slowly working my way through nominations copied from website then will try to fix up the rest to fit in as well. (GlennCarter 03:45, 07 June 2007 (UTC))[reply]

Cleanup[edit]

Whats with all the caps? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Artw (talkcontribs) 17:34, 19 June 2007

Because the information is largely copy and pasted from the Eagle site e.g. - see also my comments in the section above. (Emperor 18:42, 19 June 2007 (UTC))[reply]

1982 is wrong[edit]

I think the 1982 awards are wrong. It doesn't make sense for V for Vendetta to win a 1982 award - 1982 should have been awards for work published in 1981, and V for Vendetta debuted in 1982. On top of that, the list isn't on the official site (or, rather, isn't in the Google cache of the official site, which seems down right now). Not sure where the data came from, but until someone gives a reliable source for it, it should be removed. Winter's Tulpa (talk) 16:53, 23 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Chris Claremont in 1977 awards[edit]

The article lists Chris Claremont as the winner of a category called Favourite British Comics Writer in 1977, and cites this source: "Marvel Bullpen Bulletins," Marvel Team-Up #69 (May 1978). However, he's not listed at the archived Eagle Awards website page for 1977 winners, and neither is that category. His article lists other Eagle Awards which he did win and which are also listed at the Eagle Awards website, but it doesn't list one for 1977. And the awards he did win list him as a US writer, not a UK one. I think this is a mistake, so I'm deleting it. If anyone has a copy of Marvel Team Up #69 and it really does list him, then we can still put this entry back in. Richard75 (talk) 15:07, 9 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

1983 to 1985[edit]

The awards given in 1983 and 1984 were post-dated to 1984 and 1985 respectively: see the official website here. I have retitled the sections. Richard75 (talk) 20:50, 22 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

1993[edit]

It's very unlikely that there was just one award in 1993, and the official website doesn't list any awards being given in 1993. It's probably a mistake. I propose deleting it as insufficiently verifiable, unless of course we can find another source for this. Richard75 (talk) 20:51, 22 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Alan Davis[edit]

The official eagle Awards website lists Alan Davis as winner in 1986, but not in 1985. We have a source that suggests he won in 1984, but that source refers to work done in 1983/84. However, as the awards are generally dated with the year after they were awarded, it seems likely that that award was presented in 1984 and is the 1985 award. As that is consistent with the official site, I'm moving him to 1986. Richard75 (talk) 21:07, 22 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
