There are numerous VFR corridors all over the US. Some require ATC clearance and some do not. Having a separate article for each one seems inappropriate. Each corridor would only need a brief description. We may want to consider consolidating all US VFR corridors into one article.

October 11 NYC Plane Crash[edit]

According to the October 11 NYC Plane Crash article, pilots must be in constant communication with air traffic control in the East River VFR corridor as of October 13, 2006. FG Fox 23:48, 14 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This is the NOTAM issued in response to the crash on or about October 13, 2006:

6/3495 (#3) ZNY EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE, VFR FLIGHT OPERATIONS INVOLVING FIXED WING AIRCRAFT (EXCLUDING AMPHIBIOUS FIXED WING AIRCRAFT LANDING OR DEPARTING NEW YORK SKYPORTS INC SEAPLANE BASE) IN THE EAST RIVER CLASS B EXCLUSION AREA EXTENDING FROM THE SOUTHWESTERN TIP OF GOVERNORS ISLAND TO THE NORTH TIP OF ROOSEVELT ISLAND, ARE PROHIBITED UNLESS AUTHORIZED AND BEING CONTROLLED BY ATC. TO OBTAIN AUTHORIZATION CONTACT LGA ATCT SOUTH OF GOVERNORS ISLAND ON 126.05.

It is a Temporary Flight Restriction and may be made permanent but helicopters and seaplanes are not currently required to be in ATC contact. For more information see AOPA at www.aopa.org.
