Historical context and research provision

[edit]

If the E&M did not open until 1881, why is the Peterborough, Wisbech & Sutton Bridge redirected here, when it opened in 1866? Surely it needs its own page. AsparagusTips (talk) 11:28, 25 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The Peterborough, Wisbeach [sic] and Sutton Bridge Railway did indeed open in 1866; the "a" was dropped from "Wisbeach" in 1877, and it was absorbed by the Eastern & Midlands Railway on 1 July 1883, six months after the E&MR was itself created by the amalgamation of the Lynn & Fakenham, the Yarmouth Union and the Yarmouth & North Norfolk. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 17:02, 25 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
