Public debt

[edit]

In the table widget on the top-right of the page, "public debt" is listed as $36.4M, and referenced to the CIA factbook. Actually this figure refers to the country's "external debt", not public debt, defined by the CIA factbook as being "the total public and private debt owed to nonresidents repayable in internationally accepted currencies, goods, or services". The CIA factbook does not give a figure on public debt (perhaps because it doesn't have one?) - so perhaps this figure should be removed/renamed for better accuracy? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.83.9.13 (talk) 13:18, 29 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Stub?

[edit]

I have both added references and rewritten most of the former stub. When is this no longer considered a stub? Tirolion (talk) 18:50, 21 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I've made a couple of tweaks and done a brief assessment. I think it meets the criteria for Start class. There have been some great improvements but, like so much of wikipedia, there's always room for further improvement. bobrayner (talk) 19:21, 21 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Oil

[edit]

According to the box, oil made up 8% of exports in 2008, and it is one of the major industries.

According to the main body of the article, there is no oil production at all.

There's a disconnect somewhere.

I trimmed the old, out-of-date stats. Didn't have anything more recent to hand. If anybody has more recent stats and a couple of minutes spare... bobrayner (talk) 15:51, 22 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
All dry wells should mean no oil production, but it might be out of date. Cairns is certainly putting lots of money into Polaroil's pocket lately. — LlywelynII 16:50, 30 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Mining

[edit]

Do we really need to list every metal never commercially extracted in the economy section? — LlywelynII 16:50, 30 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Climate change

[edit]

The cod came in response to warmer weather since the 1920s and disappeared later in response not just to fishing but also colder water. Was it just the water? or has west Greenland actually been getting cooler in recent decades? Has the colder environment revived the seal population from the mid-20th-century? — LlywelynII 04:35, 5 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sustainability

[edit]

KGH may serve as an example of the success/pitfalls of sustainable practices, if someone could find a source documenting its (& Greenland Home Rule's) scrupulous attempts to avoid modernizing hunting methods or transportation too much, thus impoverishing the Inuit but generally maintaining hunting stocks (except in the face of climatic changes mentioned above). — LlywelynII 04:39, 5 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
