Federal League

[edit]

I changed the wording about "very few" publications not including the Federal League as a major league. I have read plenty that do not. If there was some way to quantify this, then I think such a statement would be more correct. LonelyBeacon 20:54, 13 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

More interesting than the counts would be to see which specific major sources do and do not. I think The Sporting News used to ignore them, for example. That's something I'll look into when I get the time, unless someone beats me to it. Truth to tell, I'm skeptical of considering the UA and the FL as major leagues, the former due to clustering all the talent in 1 or 2 teams, the latter due to consisting of too many has-beens and never-wases. But they both had impact, the FL especially so. The Players' League of 1890 definitely qualifies, though. Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 21:06, 13 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
