Notability

[edit]

The cited sources do not establish notability. Some of them don't even mention Eddie Rubin at all. The others mention him in passing, as the drummer for Johnny Rivers etc. Looking beyond the sources listed here, I searched Google Books and other online sources where I found nothing at all describing the life and career of Eddie Rubin in significant detail. As such, the biography fails to meet the requirements at WP:GNG and WP:NMUSIC. Binksternet (talk) 05:14, 29 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The article has clearly been written by someone with a close knowledge of unpublished details of Rubin's life - that is, ExtraMoldyCheese, who seems to have edited when signed out on multiple occasions, and who is attempting to add mentions of Rubin to barely connected pages (like this, LOL). If those sections are stripped out, I agree that there may be very little left. I suggest that the article be rewritten on the basis of what has appeared in reliable sources, and then, if nothing substantial has been found, it should be reviewed for deletion against the criteria you mention. This below copied from my user talk page:

I came across your comment about Eddie Rubin's article. While there's not a plethora of sources of info on him, there is some in archives and many of his avid fans and musician associates have some knowledge about Eddie's past. Why though, are you intent on removing the article and/or making complaints about it? You must have a lot of free time or something. Most people wouldn't care about the details in articles about old musicians unless there's a statement that claims a crime was committed or something else that's negative or harmful to the person's career and/or reputation. So far though, I see nothing but positive words, interesting stories, and overall gives credit to multiple artists and retells some great times in music history. So what is the problem and who cares if there's a tiny inaccuracy lurking somewhere? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.13.95.140 (talk) 03:31, 20 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The "problem" is that this is an encyclopedia, not a fan site for "avid fans and musician associates". It should be a resource of properly referenced encyclopedic information, not a collection of "positive words [and] interesting stories" that you or others happen to "know" but which no-one else can verify. Moving this discussion to the article talk page, for others to input. Ghmyrtle (talk) 08:09, 20 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

citations, biographical information

[edit]

While certainly notable, this article has become un-encyclopedic, turning into storytime without source. it's all being removed. please source and cite correctly before re-adding, Saintstephen000 (talk)

More info to add about jazz career

[edit]

This article needs more information about his jazz career prior to his rock career. After all he was a jazz drummer for more years than a rock drummer. Boggeris (talk) 23:16, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
