Free kicks

[edit]

"In addition to his solid defensive duties, he is known for phenomenally powerful left footed free kicks" - pure POV.

"that have been measured at over 120 kilometres per hour, which is believed to be the fastest in history.[1]" - that is not a reliable source, not even nearly.

Basically, 0% of the edit is currently admissable. GiantSnowman 09:52, 15 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I've done your job for you, and added three additional sources, none of which you should have any trouble accepting. If you do, I suggest you go to the Huffington Post, Fox Sports & Gawker Media pages and tell everyone they aren't reliable. You'll have a lot of work to clean pages up if those three sites are no longer reliable. I also don't appreciate your use of bullying wikilaywering to try and get your way. Admins should be above petty egotism. Macktheknifeau (talk) 11:12, 15 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I've removed the Gawker Media piece, don't thionk it's RS, but the other two are fine; I have placed in its own section (not given WP:UNDUE prominence in the article lede) and I have cleaned up the wording. GiantSnowman 11:13, 15 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
You don't think that his possession of the fastest free kick in history is something that should be weighted at the top of his biography? Are you going to edit Usain Bolt and remove the references to his holding of various world records in athletics? I've also gone ahead and made a request on the Gawker Media talk page to see if your assertion that it is unreliable is correct. Macktheknifeau (talk) 11:19, 15 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, it is still UNDUE, and it has not been awarded by any official body or organisation. Its barely merits mention in the article, let alone the lede. GiantSnowman 12:47, 15 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Saw this on ANI and have a concern about the "fastest kick ever". The Huffington Post source phrases the claim as a question, I don't think there's any way it could be used for the current phrasing. Some searching pulled up the Guiness Book of World Records which has the fastest shot at 193kph. No info on the circumstances though. Maybe phrasing like "was described as possibly being the fastest free kick ever." Ravensfire (talk) 15:30, 16 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
