Birth and death date[edit]

I took Edith’s birth date (1872) from WSPU records of her arrests. I can’t find a record of her birth in Scotland and the only mentions of an Edith Hudson in the census of the time list her as a visitor so I can’t cross reference with addresses she gave in arrest records or published in news reports at the time. Geni.com has a listing for Edith with a birth date of 1873 (and death in 1935) but I’m not sure how reliable this is as a source. It states that she was born in Ceylon, which would explain the lack of UK records, but the UK census which lists an Edith Hudson born in Ceylon as a visitor lists her occupation as ‘medical practitioner’ rather than nurse. While this may seem semantic, there is a record of an Edith Hudson graduating from Edinburgh university with a medical degree and I’m wondering if this means she was a doctor rather than a nurse (there were no degrees in nursing at that time). It does seem hugely coincidental that there were two Edith Hudsons in Edinburgh at the time (it was not a common name) both working in health care. I don’t want to add any biographical information unless I’m absolutely sure it refers to the correct Edith. I’d appreciate any additional information anyone has to share on verifying these sources.
