Edmílson (footballer, born 1976) → Edmílson – That title has been redirecting here since 2005. Unreal7 (talk) 22:03, 26 April 2016 (UTC) --Relisted. George Ho (talk) 17:36, 4 May 2016 (UTC)
- Oppose. Oh my, this is a messy situation. Edmilson (given name) lists 16 people with this name. For him to be primary, would someone be looking for him more likely than not over everyone else there? He does seem to be prominent, but I don't think he's the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. Instead, Edmilson (given name) should be renamed to just Edmilson with Edmílson redirecting there. Mr. Gomes de Moraes is the first entry, so someone looking for him won't have to look far. Another situation: "Edmílson (footballer, born 1976)" is ambiguous, since Edmilson Alves was also a footballer born in 1976. It might be a good idea to either hatnote to Mr. Alves or rename the article on Mr. Gomes de Moraes to his full name. -- Tavix (talk) 22:40, 28 April 2016 (UTC)
- Oppose per Tavix, redirect the target to the given name article, move the given name article to the accentless base name -- 70.51.46.195 (talk) 08:25, 30 April 2016 (UTC)
- Weak support for consistency reasons. I fail to see why plain article titles should ever be redirects. They should always be full articles or disambiguation pages. JIP | Talk 20:51, 2 May 2016 (UTC)
- Support. Looking at only topics that are apparently called "Edmílson" or "Edmilson",[1] this topic gets 59% of the page views - more than all other ambiguous topics combined. He's also far and away the most prominent in a Google Books search for Edmilson soccer. I'd say that qualifies him as WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. I'll create a dab page including the name and other topics known as just "Edmilson", which ought to clarify things a bit.--Cúchullain t/c 13:38, 4 May 2016 (UTC)
- Move to Edmilson. Per Cuchullain, I think this footballer is the PTOPIC, although I prefer Edmilson rather than Edmílson as the usage in English reliable sources is primarily without the diacritic.[2][3][4] — Amakuru (talk) 17:20, 4 May 2016 (UTC)
- "Edmilson" sans accent is fine with me too.--Cúchullain t/c 17:48, 4 May 2016 (UTC)
- Oppose Edmílson is a common name, also for footballers. The accent on the stressed syllable must stay, consistent with en.wp practice, unless we want to make this article the second xeno-diacritic-phobic monument after the famous one. In ictu oculi (talk) 08:13, 5 May 2016 (UTC)

The result of the move request was: Moved as clear consensus has been established. (closed by non-admin page mover) — Music1201 talk 23:23, 11 June 2016 (UTC)
Edmílson (footballer, born 1976) → Edmílson – I opposed the last discussion, but I rather strongly dislike the status quo as it creates an unnecessary disambiguation. Another way to "fix" the issue I have with this title would be to rename this footballer to Edmílson and retarget the resulting redirect to Edmílson (given name) as it is ambiguous with Edmílson Alves. Hopefully this will break the stalemate and result in a consensus to move. -- Tavix (talk) 03:18, 6 June 2016 (UTC)

- Support per last time and WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. Not all people named "Edmilson" are known mononymously as "Edmilson". Looking at those that are (the ones listed at Edmilson (disambiguation)), receives 57% of the page views, more than all other topics combined. Google Books searches for Edmilson football and Edmilson soccer suggest this is far and away the primary topic in the sources. Additionally, Edmilson and Edmílson have redirected to this player without incident for many years, meaning that anyone who types in or clicks on those terms arrive here anyway; as such "(footballer, born 1976)" has no disambiguation purpose.--Cúchullain t/c 13:42, 6 June 2016 (UTC)
- Support — It is WP:PRIMARY and has been redirecting here for quite sometime... CookieMonster755 📞 ✉ ✓ 15:13, 7 June 2016 (UTC)
