Message from Edoardo Catemario[edit]

(Copied from my talk page)

The article follows the guidelines of similar articles but I do understand that probably due to the fact that I am not an english speaking natural, there might be some mistakes. Every single piece of news written in the article is 100% verifiable (my repertoire, the main points of my career and so on). Would you please tell me which sentences should be revised in the article? I will be happy to make all the required changes. E.catemario (talk) 10:22, 25 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The issue here is not accuracy but neutrality. Articles should not be written in a way that sound like they promote the subject of the article, so this article will need altering to not sound like an advert. Articles that are blatantly promotional get deleted on sight. I don't think this counts as blatant advertising, but other people might.
Also, creating or editing articles about yourself is generally discouraged on Wikipedia, so it is probably better if I or someone else edits the article for you. One thing I must advise you about is that once an article is there on Wikipedia, you have no control over its contents. If there is anything about you that you would rather didn't go in the article, it may find its way into the article eventually. It's up to you what you want to do about this, but don't say I didn't warn you.
I'm going to copy this over to the talk page of the article, as this discussion better belongs there.

Thank you Chris for the warning. I actually prefer to manage main information about myself by myself because in the past there have been inaccuracies regarding, for example, my nationality, birth date, place and so on... I do understand that in a "politically correct" world it might seem "unwise" to talk about oneself. I wish this article didn't sound like an advert. I do try, as far as I can, to keep some distance about what I do and have putted on it only basic facts following the guidelines of similar articles. Again, I do apologize if my article does not seem neutral and am at your (and anybody's else) disposal to change it. If you want to take care of this article please do it. I would greatly appreciate your help.

I have been through the article and removed everything that could be seen as promotional. It's possible that someone who knows more about the accepted style for classical musicians may put some of the stuff back, but there was really too much name-dropping in it. Regarding editing articles about you, making unambigously factual corrections is fine, as is removing anything libellous. Beyond that, it is advisable to raise the matter on the talk page first.
If there's any further disputes, I propose to refer this to someone in the Wikiproject for classical music to decide where to go from here.

Thank you Chris. The biography looks nice. However, many other musicians have the list of their recordings published, so please rollover it. It would also be nice putting back the tag with the guitars as my collection is one of the finest all over Europe and has been published on many catalogues. Moreover, some highlights of my career such as the BBC music magazine cover CD seems to me extremely relevant in any performer career. Removing the section with prizes and award (even if I think that it makes the relevance of every single award very precise and not ambiguous at all) can be fine but in this case the most relevant should be enclosed in the biography (look to many other musicians pages). I want to be neutral but can't accept that the article loses some of its relevant parts without a good reason. Moreover, the informations that I provided are up to date, don't you find it is a little bit non sense making a stub of something among the most complete information that you can get about me?

I have tagged this for attention by the Wikiproject Classical Music. They should be able to resolve these questions better than I can.

Need for review references (in whatever language)[edit]

I've had a look at this article and basically agree with what Chris has written above. This is what it says in Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons: "In some cases the subject may become involved in editing the article, either directly or through a representative. Although Wikipedia discourages people from writing about themselves, a tolerant attitude should be taken in cases . . . . "

I've made some edits to bring it in line with other WP articles. The biggest lack at the moment is references to independent reviews of concerts and recordings. These can be in English or Italian or Spanish or whatever, but they are essential for establishing Edoardo's notability. Listing recordings, prizes and awards in a factual way should be fine. No problem there. Let me know if I can help any further. Best regards to both of you. --Kleinzach 05:09, 17 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This is outrageous! You have references from ClassicToday.com about all the critics that they did, from ARTS music international recording label, the page of Quattroquarti association stating my rule as artistic director, the page of the City of Siena, the CIDIM list (italian official professional musicians)... I have no problem in finding other articles and or documents. I just don't agree with the critic moved to the references that I have cited. I am a DECCA artist (obviously if you know what DECCA records is) and have been selling tons of cds whit ARTS and thousands of click on iTunes. Sincerely, I don't mind if you prefer to erase this article. I am disgusted by the many cuts, corrections, challenges etcetera. The same article (in the previous full version) is present in the italian wikipedia.
I kindly ask to someone of the arbitrators to intervene. Thank you in advance.

I have provided to roll over the list of recordings. It seems to me an essential information. Also added to the biography the invitation (third year consecutively, I will be there also in march 2009) to teach at the Royal Academy of London. E.catemario (talk) 15:44, 5 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
