"Discovery" vs. Contact[edit]

In the section on Open Veins, I changed the text "the European discovery of the New World" to "European contact with the New World." Minor, but I thought it was important.Khuryps 18:59, 20 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Eduardogaleano.jpg[edit]

Image:Eduardogaleano.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Puerto Rico Independence[edit]

I think this part is self-serving, as I see it has been copied over the pages of pretty much all the writers mentioned.

On January 26, 2006, Galeano joined other internationally renowned figures and Latin American authors such as Nobel-laureate Gabriel García Márquez, Mario Benedetti, Ernesto Sábato, Carlos Monsiváis, Pablo Armando Fernández, Jorge Enrique Adoum, Luis Rafael Sánchez, Mayra Montero, Ana Lydia Vega and world famous singer/composer Pablo Milanés, in demanding sovereignty for Puerto Rico and adding their name and signature to the Latin American and Caribbean Congress' Proclamation for the Independence of Puerto Rico, which approved a resolution favoring the island-nation's right to assert its independence, as ratified unanimously by political parties hailing from twenty two Latin American countries in November 2006. Galeano's demand for the recognition of Puerto Rico's independence was obtained at the behest of the Puerto Rican Independence Party (PIP). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 148.87.1.167 (talk) 22:08, 1 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Eduardo Galeano Agnosticism[edit]

Eduardo Galeano was a Christian when he was young but he later lost a conventional religious faith. I think its most accurate to present him as an agnostic. In this interview to Argentine newspaper La Nación, he clearly states that he is not a religious believer: [1]Mistico (talk) 23:28, 9 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
