World War II service

[edit]

Although Z'berg served in the United States Navy during the World War II era, no reliable sources found as of yet state that he served overseas in a war zone during the war. Accordingly, Category:American military personnel of World War II was removed from the article. Semper Fi! FieldMarine (talk) 12:00, 14 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi FieldMarine. While updating this page with new info and sources, I see the sources say Z'berg was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. (here and here, for example) Is it a requirement of membership the VFW to have served overseas in an active war zone? CactusWriter (talk) 22:11, 25 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi CactusWriter, I'm not sure what the requirement for joining the Veterans of Foreign Wars was at the time, but eligibility for the past 30 years or so is a campaign medal. Being in the VFW is certainly a good indicator though. However, to include a cat, it must be defining. Do you have any content that can be added with refs that say his role in World War II was defining? Until that is established, the cat is not included. Semper Fi! No, I haven't seen any sources which discussed his specific military service. Nor have I seen any indication that his service played a factor in his work as a politician. So I'll just leave it be. I appreciate your input. Thanks CactusWriter (talk) 17:43, 26 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

BTW, great job adding to this article. Semper Fi! FieldMarine (talk) 18:09, 26 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
