Person #1: Data point: I was born in Britain in 1982 and was taught the "nigger" version.

Person #2: I would like the following data to be recorded SOMEPLACE. Maybe HERE is the best place:

In Fort Worth, Texas, in 1960, on my kindergarden playground (owned and operated by a white Christian church), the sing-song went: "Eennie, meennie, miny, moe. Catcha nigger by the toe. If he hollers, make him pay. Fifty dollars every day. My mother told me to pick YOU!" Taught child to child. I never heard an adult say it. At the time I learned it, I had no idea what a "nigger" was, as no one in my family used the word.

Person #3:

"Some historians have associated the words "eenie meenie minie moe" with Celtic Druid counting words. Since many similar counting rhymes existed earlier and since that time..." Drivel? Which Celtic numbers are being referred to? Any particular historian, or just those pesky University of Some historians? Wetman 01:29, 30 Aug 2004 (UTC)

This page [1] (near the bottom) gives more information; it doesn't mention druids, but there's a book (quoted on Amazon at [2] )which does. Markalexander100 03:59, 30 Aug 2004 (UTC)

"Eenie Meenie" 22 second sample

[edit]

The audio sample is of incredibly bad quality as compared to what's usually on wikipedia. Can it be replaced? ⊾maine12329⊿ talks@wiki 08:54, 15 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
