EE has been publishing overviews of its history for a while. For one useful example, [1] features] lists official exchange rates between the Soviet rouble and some car prices at the date of 6 September 1989 and 13 September 1989; the first issue of EE comes from 22 September 1989.

Note how the official rates were only set once per week. Not long afterwards, reputable newspapers set out to print *daily* currency exchange rates, and persisted on that for more than a decade. Διγουρεν_{Εμπρος!} 22:29, 27 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
