Untitled[edit]

Egan does have a large number of computers that students use, primarily for research. While many students do vandalize some articles, banning the entire system would be very damaging to the school's research. If need be, stop their range of IPs from registering. About Editing[edit]

To all editors: References to current events are acceptable if done in a record format. For example, when the article mentions that the winner of the second Mystery Bucket competition was Logan Breitbart, it also lists all previous winners from past years. If a "historical" tradition (e.g. History Seminar 199) began in a certain year (2004-2005 school year), it IS acceptable to mention this date (e.g. "in 2005..."). Please try to include all information possible, whether or not you, the editor, took part in the activity or not (Mystery Bucket, Seminar, etc.)

Please try not to use point-of-view statements. "Boasts excellent mathemetics and language courses" is not POV because this adjective can be proven by looking at standardized testing scores and high school placements in honors classes.

Some eighth graders are editing this page and is forgetting about the seventh graders. They talked about "Egan boastes excellent mathemetics, language courses, and great eighth grade history departments. Also, they only wrote the eighth grade winners of the mystery bucket, but were there any seventh grade winners? make it more clear.

Unnecessary POV stuff[edit]

You people need to stop adding usless POV stuff. I know we get carried away, but just add what students learn, their activities in school, and stuff like that. "Another Egan custom is the "Mystery Bucket," started in 2005. Every year, teachers create a tape with small portions of Disney songs. Eight students and two teachers are then selected to hear a part of a song, and attempt to sing or recite the next line. If the student is successful, he or she is temporarily safe. If not, whatever is in the bucket placed behind his or her chair is dumped over his or her head. Contents can include food items such as applesauce, chocolate syrup, and spaghetti. The last competitor left wins a special prize purchased by the Leadership class. The prize is usually associated with Disney. The 2006 winner was Logan Breitbart, who narrowly beat out at-the-time eighth grader Jenna Klein. In 2005 (the debut year), the winner was a then-seventh grader, Laurel Newman."

"Due to edits by Egan alumnus Daniel Moerner and the Egan history department, the course changed the next year to include a term paper, midterm exam and map test, and two final essays. It was instated by U.S. history teacher and community member Mr. Jon Haymam, who has stated that he will continue it at least as long as he remains teaching at Egan. The English department also tends to perform well in writing tests; a few students at the school earn the notable essay score of a six (out of a possible six) annually."

Looks Like Eighth Grade description aren't here anymore[edit]

Egan Departments Deleted[edit]

Sorry! It just seemed too impermanent, considering that many teachers would be leaving anyways. It was crucial, for the article's welfare, for this section to leave the article. =(

"Education" Section[edit]

Just a small request - currently a few teachers are mentioned in this section. If Egan students could update this as new teachers are recruited, and older ones retire, that would be great!

One problem, no teachers have retired since the Education part was last updated. (of course, some may retire over the vacation, but we don't know them yet.)

Will Teachers want their names on the web?[edit]

Will Egan Teachers want their names on the web? I go to Egan, and right now, a few of the teachers already have their names on other websites, but will all of them want their names posted on the Internet? That is the question.

HAHA, Egan has a HUGE article, and its rival school, Blach has a tiny stubbed article. Blach students need to work on Blach's article!

Los Altos School District[edit]

Anyone with more kknowledge about the Los Altos School Districtexpand it please? Its just sort of weird that the page linking to Egan is a stub, but Egan is not.

Changes[edit]

I don't Think anymore changes are necessary. That "formal tone" template should be removed. As long as no crazy person comes along and tries to vandalize the article, we should keep it the way it is (except for updates). Who agrees with me? --haha169 16:04, 22 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ardis G. Egan Section?[edit]

I recently wrote a very accurate a precise, but short biography on Ardis G. Egan, founder of Egan School, but it got deleted. Anyone think that it should be put back?

Ardis G. Egan was the founder of Egan. He was also superintendent of the Los Altos School District during the 1950's. During his career, he spearheaded a campaign that resulted in the construction of of 14 new schools during his 21 year-term, as he watched the elementary school population grow from 350 to more than 6,000. Ardis also founded Los Altos's first service club, the Kiwanis Club, along with the help of Bert Schweitzer, Don Gordon, and Wallace Stanley. Earlier that same year, those four also organized the town's first Pet Parade, now an annual event in Los Altos. Ardis also started an annual Special Games for physically handicapped youth.

Pi Club advertising?[edit]

I don't know what anyone else thinks about this blatant advertising of this Pi Club. Personally, I think it's rather biased and unconstructive, but I will wait to see what other editors feel before taking action. Hippiecow (talk) 01:45, 19 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I find it rather annoying as well; and this editor has been doing the same to the local high school's article. However, it seems as if he's stopped, so everything is good.
