Ogle (1902), states that Henry Ogle of Choppington -- son of William Ogle, esq. of Coppington (b. abt. 1412 - d. 10 Aug 1474) and nephew of Sir Robert de Ogle, 1st Baron Ogle -- received a gift of lands in Eglingham and Bewick. His grandson Luke II Ogle of Eglingham (d. 1597), inherited Eglingham from Mark Ogle of Eglingham ... who is presumed to be Luke's uncle. (source: Ogle, H.A. (1902).
