"though not the oldest known treaty"

[edit]

would be nice to mention which the older one is, e.g. "but not older than X". I've been in impression that this one is THE oldest written peace treaty. --Sigmundur (talk) 04:05, 17 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The link to the text of the treaty no longer appears to work. 86.129.107.174 (talk) 07:54, 4 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

References and citations

[edit]

There are various problems with the references in this article, which I will be correcting in a series of edits. Apart from the technical problems, there is no consistently-maintained citation style at present. The corrections will (probably) gradually establish a more consistent style. If anyone would prefer to correct the article in a different way, please let me know here and they are welcome to take over. --Mirokado (talk) 17:41, 31 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I've now finished this series of updates. There are probably still minor changes needed to make the presentaton of the citations consistent (adding doi where possible for example), they can be made when convenient. --Mirokado (talk) 01:49, 3 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

"Hattušiliš's predecessor" ???

[edit]

Under Aims > Hittite Empire it says: "Hattušiliš's predecessor, the Assyrian king, had taken Hanigalbat, which had been a vassal territory under Hittite control."

Wouldn't the Assyrian king be Hattušiliš's competitor rather than his predecessor? Is it trying to say "Under Hattušiliš's predecessor, the Assyrian king had taken Hanigalbat, which had been a vassal territory under Hittite control." ?

Also, why call it Hanigalbat (the only occurrence in the article) when the wikilink goes to "Mitanni", and Mitanni is used twice earlier in the article?

(I don't want to be BOLD as my only knowledge comes from what I've just read in the article.) 59.102.8.108 (talk) 07:09, 15 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
