Location

[edit]

IP users have been coming in and locating this crime as occurring on a street that I can't verify as having ever existed. Until then, the conventional wisdom has been that the murders occurred in the Areia Preta section of Macau's Fátima Parish, not in Coloane (which is where the parts washed up on Hac Sa Beach). I've searched some of the names on the zh.wiki page, and can't find anywhere known in Portuguese or Chinese as "Forta Mutya" (though there is a Mong-Há Fort near Areia Preta) or "Serebro Road" (perhaps a poor transliteration of the Chinese for "Estrada do Arco"?), and the only Google results lead to this page, its Chinese equivalent, or less reputable wikis that just copy and paste from here.

There could be confusion because Hac Sa and Areia Preta both mean "black sand", but one is on the former Coloane island and the other is on the Macau Peninsula. Paris1127 (talk) 19:57, 3 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Follow up: Hoje Macau had an article about the case in 2020 (I searched for the restaurant's Portuguese name, Casa de Pasto Pat Sin; pt:Casa de pasto is an old Portuguese term for a restaurant), referring to the location of of the murders as Iao Hon, and there's both a street and a bairro by that name in Fátima, near Areia Preta. Unfortunately, Chinese sources are a bit out of reach for me, and I do not trust Google Translate. Paris1127 (talk) 17:41, 4 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I'm the one behind this Forta Mutya non-sense and literally Areia Preta is the location. It says near Iao Hon not in Iao Hon. 88.245.19.101 (talk) 00:00, 18 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Not to start a argument by the way. 88.245.19.101 (talk) 00:02, 18 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I am not sure what point you're trying to make here. You need to be more specific. The issue I took with that edit that you made was that, from what I could tell, you were referring to Hei Sha Wan as in the bay at Hac Sa Beach, which most assuredly is not in Fatima Parish. Hac Sa is on Coloane, that's where the bodies were found. Areia Preta is in Fatima, and most sources refer to that or Iao Hon as the site of the restaurant/murders. Hac Sa in Cantonese and Areia Preta in Portuguese have the exact same meaning (black sand), but both refer to different places in Macau. That is the issue. You also removed references, which is also an issue. Paris1127 (talk) 01:54, 18 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
But a TV Documentary refered the murder as "Areia Preta massacre".. 88.245.19.20 (talk) 05:25, 20 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Due to that Iao Hon 50% might not be the location. 88.245.19.20 (talk) 05:26, 20 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Fix the article again when you find Chinese sources refering Iao Hon as the location, alright? 88.245.19.20 (talk) 05:29, 20 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Lastly, due to our different time zones i can't talk at your time. 88.245.19.20 (talk) 05:40, 20 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
What documentary?
Regardless, if they call it "Areia Preta" it likely refers to the area near Iao Hon and not the beach.
Also, that's the beauty of Wikipedia that people around the world can edit it. Paris1127 (talk) 18:34, 20 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Source of Areia Preta

[edit]

Since Forta Mutya will not come back User:Paris1127 doesnt accept request, then the location should be changed the Areia Preta or just unblock the page so it can be mine, sorry Paris can you accept my apology? The documentary is called 香港奇案 by the way just a source. 88.245.22.66 (talk) 17:17, 19 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Do you have a link to the documentary? The specific episode? Searching that name takes me to a YouTube account and YouTube videos are not generally reliable sources. Paris1127 (talk) 17:37, 19 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

You can change the location to "Areia Preta or Iao Hon" or ask someone to unblock the page. The reason i added a fake location was i thought no noe knew where the restauesnt was located. 88.245.19.249 (talk) 13:45, 20 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

To Paris

[edit]

User:Paris1127, Areia Preta is exactly the location https://baike.baidu.hk/item/%E5%85%AB%E4%BB%99%E9%A3%AF%E5%BA%97%E6%BB%85%E9%96%80%E6%A1%88/8175227 88.245.17.61 (talk) 13:23, 28 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Areia Preta

[edit]

User:Paris1127 i added sources of Areia Preta, including the documentary source. ThomasStoo (talk) 10:34, 13 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I had to revert because:
  1. YouTube is not a reliable source, and the documentary you linked to is untranslated. Not to mention it's probably uploaded illegally.
  2. Baike is another wiki, so citing its sources is better than citing it.
  3. Quarry Bay is the name in English.

“He” second suicide attempt..maybe “his”?

[edit]

That reads strangely. Believe it should be his… 2601:280:C001:2CE0:E5DB:DDED:918C:D883 (talk) 19:21, 9 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Agree that it sounds wrong. I think the contributor was either going for "His" or left a letter off of "The". I'm not sure which would sound better. Paris1127 (talk) 22:23, 9 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
