Merger proposal

[edit]

Both Electoral district of Portland and Electoral results for the district of Portland contain the same information about Members while Electoral results for the district of Portland additionally has a full list of results, with Electoral district of Portland linking to it. This seems unnecessary, all information could be on one page (in fact it is, Electoral district of Portland is entirely contained within Electoral results for the district of Portland)

I'm proposing that all info from Electoral results for the district of Portland be moved to Electoral district of Portland and Electoral results for the district of Portland be made a redirect to Electoral district of Portland#Election results. Liamdavies (talk) 05:11, 16 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • As discussed here, here, and here, the merger should not go ahead.

There are still 32 elections that concern the district of Portland, which I hope to one day have filled, and when they do it will be a massive page. Also, the election district page should be kept different from the results because, even if it is small now, it is hoped that one day it will have maps, description of boundaries, and information about notable members and elections. This has been standard procedure for the Australian Politics project to have results pages and district pages separate from each other. Kirsdarke01 (talk) 10:00, 16 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Fair enough, sorry to step on toes but I hadn't seen any of the previous discussions, none had come past Australian noticeboard. Maybe a hidden notice should be placed at the top of all articles like this to prevent more of these merge requests, it does seem to comply with the guidelines for a merger.
