Official moto of the Filiki Eteria[edit]
The article neglects to mention that "Eleftheria i thanatos" was used officially by the Filiki Eteria, even appearing as part of their coat of arms and insignia. This seems to satisfy the definition of a moto. Does anyone care to add it to the article? --Radjenef (talk) 00:08, 14 April 2009 (UTC)

Officiality of the motto[edit]
The motto may be considered unofficial: for it is not included in the Constitution or the preamble thereof, nor in the coat of arms, it has not been incorporated in official expressions of State authority such as Drachma or Euro coinage or ELTA post stamps; its use by the 4th Inf. Div. isn't something that necessitates officiality of the motto on a national level.
One could conclude that it is a national motto, a motto popular to Greeks across the world but not an official one. ThanmadGR (talk) 14:58, 16 January 2024 (UTC)
