Upgrading this article to B class[edit]

With the expansion of the biography section this article now qualifies for B-class status. It will need much more work before achieving GA-status. Please do what you can to improve it. Majoreditor 02:24, 21 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Good Article candidate[edit]

I think the artcile now qualifies for GA status and have nominated it. Majoreditor (talk) 03:43, 21 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

GA review (see here for criteria)

I think there is still a lot of work left to do on this article. Is there any way it could be expanded, because it is rather short as of this time. In addition, the subject is listed as being the category of people who died in 2008. Now, I’d think that would be something important to mention in the prose: how he died, his funeral, etc, but it only receives the briefest mention. I’m hoping this article could be expanded further before becoming GA, but if this is a good as it can get, feel free to reinstate it and I will let another editor have a look. -- jackturner3 (talk) 14:18, 26 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Moving on ... Details from Aboueid's new biography[edit]

Suzane Aboueid's biography on Zoghby has just been published, and I now have a copy of it. This work has enough information to expand the article and address most of the concerns raised in the GA review. Majoreditor (talk) 02:42, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have greatly expanded the article ssing material from Aboeid's new biography and Dick's work on the Melkite church. I've also copy-edited the article. It is almost ready for a fresh GA nomination. Majoreditor (talk) 20:33, 29 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

GA Review, take 2[edit]

A quick note. I am on vacation April 4 through 12 and will be off-wiki. I will respond to GA reviewer requests upon my return. Cheers, Majoreditor (talk) 16:59, 3 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

GA review[edit]

A very nice, informative, and well-written article. I've only got two small points:

  • "While there he was threatened with arrest for preventing the execution of a sentence passed by a Sharei tribunal." Should this be "Sharia"?
  • All quotations should be immediately attributed. I notice that this paragraph in unreferenced, for instance: Decrying the fissure between East and West, he said that "to prolong the schism is to remain in sin." Zoghby called for the Melkite Catholic Church to adopt "double communion" with both Rome and the Orthodox. That paragraph is rather short in any case and could probably usefully be merged with the following one.

And that's it, nothing much to worry about there. I'm putting this article on hold now. --Malleus Fatuorum (talk) 22:12, 12 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, Malleus.
To answer the first point: I double-checked the source and it indeed uses the term "Sharei tribunal" rather than "Sharia". I'm not sure if this is a typographical error in the book or an alternative transalphabetization of the Arabic term. I'll try to track down an answer.
I have also merged some short paragraphs and added citations for the quote in question.
Is there anything else which needs attention? Cheers, Majoreditor (talk) 03:13, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I've been told that "Sharia" is the preferred English transalphabetization and that "Sharei" can have completely different meanings. I'm going to make the appropriate change to the article. Majoreditor (talk) 02:36, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

That'll do for me, nice job. I'm listing this article as a GA now. --Malleus Fatuorum (talk) 17:13, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Picture[edit]

Is there some free picture of Elias Zoghby?--Vojvodae please be free to write :) 09:11, 25 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

There used to be a photo here but is was removed due to licensing problems. The best way to obtain one my be to have the Melkite Patriarchate to release one or more into public domain. Majoreditor (talk) 01:26, 26 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
