Launch[edit]

I was searching through the CRTCarchives and I found info that says that MusiquePlus was licensed on December 1, 1987 and launched on September 1, 1988. [1] [2] 70.31.137.12 05:34, 13 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Shouldn't info about how MusiquePlus when it first launched in 1986 about how it wasn't a full network at the time. See CHUM web site for this info...

1986 "September 2, 1986, just two years after MuchMusic began, CHUM Television launches its French counterpart, MusiquePlus. At the time, the station is 100% owned by CHUM Limited as a division of MuchMusic. With the help of a small studio on Boulevard St. Laurent in Montreal where interviews and performances are taped, four hours of MusiquePlus programming is created at MuchMusic headquarters in Toronto and provided to Videotron for broadcast to Quebec subscribers of MuchMusic. The programming repeats once daily."

1987 "CRTC approval is granted for a MusiquePlus station licence."

1988 "September 1, 1988, MusiquePlus goes to air as a 24-hour French music specialty station from its downtown Montreal headquarters. The station has a 50% CHUM ownership."

Separate pages[edit]

Since MusiquePlus has much more significance to Canadian and Québec’s television history, it deserves to have its own article. Elle Fictions is a mere replacement that Bell did once it didn’t know what to do with the music channel anymore. I don’t think this would have happened on Wikipedia if MuchMusic had the same fate. The channel jumpstarted the career of so many artists, local and international. Montréal is indeed a real metropolis with opportunities for everyone, the channel reflected that. No one will remember Elle Fictions, everyone will remember MusiquePlus. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Xilefeniotan (talkcontribs) 18:28, 11 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
