Southern 1991
[edit]Hi I'm trying to track down an Old English version of this text. Anyone know who Southern (1991) is? Rho9998 (talk) 09:35, 4 June 2024 (UTC)
- Hey Rho9998. It seems to be this gentleman R. W. Southern I managed to deduce it from a note in this article on Persee On a quick glance I can't seem to find anything more. This ought to be checked and edited properly. Kkupus (talk) 19:13, 13 August 2024 (UTC)
- Also added a dubious mark. A source that discusses a Middle English translation talks only of a fragment from the 12th century. Marx. Kkupus (talk) 19:27, 13 August 2024 (UTC)
- 12th Century can sometimes be considered Old English, though it would be later Old English for sure - and I'd expect it to be early 12th Century. Depends on the level of Norman French influence. The Old English period was defined as 650-1100 AD for my literature course at Uni. Rho9998 (talk) 09:29, 14 August 2024 (UTC) Rho9998 (talk) 09:29, 14 August 2024 (UTC)
- Actually I think I've definitely come across this before, called "the Old English Honorius" - though the information about Southern (1991) will still be useful, thank you! Rho9998 (talk) 09:35, 14 August 2024 (UTC)
