Palestinian or Israeli?

[edit]

This article wrongly presents Nazareth as part of Palestine quoting a source without authority. https://www.arabamerica.com/the-rising-palestinian-star-elyanna/

Wikipedia own presentation of Nazareth presents it as fully part of Israel

This should be corrected from the article.

In addition, Elyanna is presented as being "Palestinian" but she was born in Nazareth which is, according to wikipedia, an city fully part of the israel state. Therefore her nationality is Israeli and not Palestinian. Ouriel Ohayon (talk) 08:35, 17 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I fully agree with these comments. Wikipedia is based on facts and not on personal points of view. Shulalevin (talk) 16:44, 17 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It clearly states where she born and her ancestry per reliable sources. Your comment appears to be confusing the two. Fettlemap (talk) 21:59, 17 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
the article was now correctly edited to Nazareth, Israel instead of Nazareth, Palestine. [ i still have the old screenshot]
There is no confusion here. An individual born in Israel is an Israeli citizen and can be named Israeli-arab but not Palestinian. Maybe the article should correctly present the identify as Arab-Israeli. Ouriel Ohayon (talk) 07:57, 18 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
There seems to be confusion in that Wikipedia does not report original research. We report what the sources say. --CNMall41 (talk) 02:33, 19 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
She’s Palestinian, not Israeli. Israel is currently occupying that land. Nazareth is Palestine and Israel is and has always been an illegitimate government. Read your history and respect her nationality. Palestine will be free Elpepeetesechhh (talk) 17:07, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You totaly right! As an Israeli Nazareth is an Jewish-Chrisitian-Muslim city in Israel! There is no doubts about it whatsoever. This is populism to write that she is half "Palestinian". Not even mentioning the Palestine is not a state, never has been, never will be 212.143.80.71 (talk) 08:23, 27 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Nazareth has been an Israeli town from the biblical times to nowadays. Palestine is not even a country, this is a name of the region. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A01:E0A:440:2410:ADB0:7A81:A832:615C (talk) 16:35, 23 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

SHE IS PALESTINIAN AND SHE WAS RAISED AND BORN IN PALESTINE, SHE IS NOT ISRAELI

[edit]

Elyanna was raised and born in Palestine she is a palestinian signer the fact Wikipedia wrote she was born and raised in Israel is an insult towards her and Palestine how can you say she was born in Israel when Israel is the cause she moved from Palestine 62.37.114.220 (talk) 21:04, 12 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

She is Palestinian born in Palestine not what is called “Israel” 176.54.255.138 (talk) 06:53, 5 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Bullshit! There is no country called Palestine, those hypocretes citizens who live here in Israel, my country, enjoying all the benefits of a western-developed-liberal country and still call themselfs "Palestinians". Shit, if you offer them to leave to the so called "Palestinian" country, I can assure you that they will avoid it in any price. 212.143.80.71 (talk) 08:28, 27 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

IS PALESTINIAN-CHILEAN NOT FROM ISRAEL

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. Article already says she is Palestinian-Chilean (though possibly should be just Palestinian or even American per MOS:NATIONALITY. She was born in Nazareth, which is in Israel. What's your complaint? Cannolis (talk) 20:10, 29 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Cannolis! I know this is months late, but why are we even calling her "Chilean" in the opening sentence?
She has Chilean ancestry, but:
1. She wasn't born in Chile.
2. Nothing indicates that she is based primarily there.
3. Nothing indicates she has Chilean citizenship or why it's relevant to her career.
Beyond her heritage, being "Chilean" has nothing to do with her notability as a singer.
She moved to America, grew up there and began her career there. AFAIK, she's based in America now too. An LA Times article even describes her as a "Tarzana ingenue" and describes her as being from Tarzana.[1]
I second the notion of simply calling her "American". Her article goes into depth about her origins. Clear Looking Glass (talk) 03:05, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Agree with your changes. Cannolis (talk) 21:04, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Disinformation

[edit]

someone changed her place of birth to Palestine and locked the page. she wasn't born in the West bank or gaza. Nazareth is a city recognized as a part of Israel,it doesn't matter what your want politically this is a fact. Can someone who is a serious person edit it ? Leristan (talk) 01:34, 13 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

exactly! nazareth is a part of the state of israel, listing „nazareth” as her birth place with no mention of the state she was born in is rather silly 178.235.197.201 (talk) 01:01, 15 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Inconsistent Birthplace Listing: Nazareth vs. Nazareth, Israel

[edit]

Elyanna's birthplace is listed solely as "Nazareth," omitting the country "Israel." While her self-identification is noted, it should not override the factual location. Nazareth is internationally recognized as part of Israel. I haven't found a single case where the country of birth is omitted in a celebrity's article. This exception undermines Wikipedia's mission to be factual and neutral. QuestForInsight (talk) 17:28, 4 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Change the birthplace from "Nazareth" to "Nazareth, Israel" in both the introduction and infobox. This aligns with Wikipedia's standard of listing both city and country, ensuring consistency and neutrality.
