World's oldest person?[edit]

That's exactly it - oldest proven person living. I do find it odd, yet somehow cool, that Emiliano, as a man, is the oldest person in the world, and the only man in the top ten oldest living people. Never Married/Married Three Times?[edit]

Greetings,

I've been told by sources that talked to the family that Emiliano 'never married.' He had three girlfriends, which may have been mistranslated from Spanish into 'spouses' and then 'married three times.' Checking the media stories, about half say he married and half didn't. However, from a somewhat insider position, he didn't. The 1930 census lists him as single. Henry Allingham, oldest combat veteran?[edit]

Mr Allingham is listed in the article as the oldest combat veteran. Whilst I belive he is the oldest verified living combat veteran, is it not the case that Moses Hardy, was a combat vet? I know there is some question about the age he reached but he was at least 112, older than Mr Allingham at present. There may also be some other deceased vets older than Mr Allingham, I'm not an expert on this. Can someone with a bit more knowledge than myself (and who knows how to edit pages) check this and make a change if necessary? Sanctuary73 12:29, 22 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Henry Allingham is NOT the 'oldest combat veteran' on record. Aside from Moses Hardy (who, if 'only' 112 years 11 months, would stil be quite a ways ahead of Mr Allingham) there were also cases like Antonio Todde and Giovanni Frau. Antonio, at 112 years 346 days, would be the recordholder if not Moses Hardy.Ryoung122 16:08, 22 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thankyou Mr Young and ES for confirming my suspicions. I've removed the incorrect reference to Henry Allingham. Should something now be added saying the oldest combat veteran is 'possibly Moses Hardy or Antonio Todde' or maybe 'probably Moses Hardy'? del or Del Toro?[edit]

Should the "del" in his name be capitalised or not? The GWR 2009 edition does, where he's briefly mentioned as being Tomoji Tanabe's predecessor. Incumbent[edit]

If there's anything in the wikipedia or wiktionary entries for "Incumbent" that suggests the use of that word in a succession box about longevity, it's exceedingly well-hidden. This is all of a piece with the deeply unencyclopedic view that old age is a contest, whose "winners," "record-holders," and "record-breakers" are inherently notable.
