[edit]Not-with-standing the five pillars of Wikipedia that allow for editing of articles from anyone, I have to say that I'm finding the excessive edits of Ehrenkater on this page very frustrating.
I believe that they are diluting the quality of the article and removing content of interest to the people that view the page and are using it as a point of reference in regards to the history of the village.
A further frustration is that these are 'major edits' (several hundred words at a time) and as such should first be discussed here.
Could you please discuss edits here to avoid future frustration - thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ThomasShackleton (talk • contribs) 19:52, 31 March 2013 (UTC)
- Disagree completely. This article rambles and from a quick look contains many errors. J3Mrs (talk) 12:41, 1 April 2013 (UTC)
- The whole purpose of the 'open source' nature of Wikipedia is to 'correct errors'...so thank you for correcting them. These most recent edits are far more in line with expectation, rather than than the previous attempts - so thanks again...although some elements I disagree with and will add them back in when I complete my input into the article. I assume we can 'talk' about them at that time. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ThomasShackleton (talk • contribs) 13:54, 1 April 2013 (UTC)
- I agree with J3Mrs. What you're producing here might be at home in a local guidebook, but not in an encyclopedia article. The text is rambling, contains much repetition and redundancy, and despite its length contains almost nothing on the essentials as described by WP:UKCITIES. Malleus Fatuorum 15:19, 1 April 2013 (UTC)
- Of course I agree completely with the comments by J3Mrs and Malleus Fatuorum. And once it is clearer which parts of this article are actually worth retaining, clearly a lot more copy editing is going to be needed. -Ehrenkater (talk) 16:34, 1 April 2013 (UTC)
- I will monitor this with interest, but do question why whole section (most recently the history of the Welsey Church) were removed, when clearly they are a part ofthe village's history? I have reinstated them. (ThomasShackleton (talk) 16:39, 1 April 2013 (UTC))
- Unfortunately little is clear in this article. You can monitor all you like but it will in the end be slimmer, focused and Emley will have a decent article. J3Mrs (talk) 17:14, 1 April 2013 (UTC)

[edit]- All the references to books need page numbers. I will visit the library to see if they have the books. J3Mrs (talk) 09:19, 2 April 2013 (UTC)

– This seems to be primary for "Emley", the village has 308 views and its football club has 814 (WP:DABCONCEPT) compared with 17 for Frank Emley and 9[[1]] for the Hundred of Elmbridge. At Talk:Emley#Untitled there was suggestion that the DAB be deleted and I removed the Surrey village as I can't fine it but because of the other 2 entries I added we can keep the DAB.
