Article title

[edit]

The title of this article needs to be changed to the correct spelling: Emmett J. Scott. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Karenfaye56 (talkcontribs) 13:32, 11 May 2015‎ (UTC)[reply]

The first reference in the article shows his middle name as Jay, so that should stay in the intro. As far as the article title, it's not clear how he was commonly referred to in his professional life. Can you point to usage that supports the middle initial? —C.Fred (talk) 13:37, 11 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Emmett J. Scott

A quick google search reveals how he was referred to during his lifetime. More importantly it is how signed his name himself. See his publications here:

He was not a cabinet member in Wilson's administration, but staff to a cabinet member. That is not the same thing. The Secretary of War was part of the cabinet. A staff adviser was not.Parkwells (talk) 02:38, 1 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
