What is Emotional approach coping?[edit]

I found this article confusing.

I came to it expecting a mature therapy. My agenda today has been to research coping mechanisms. And Coping (psychology) links here.

I read the entire article without realizing the subject is a placeholder in psychology. But I carefully read the opening section again. And I think the error is that this is not a therapy but an explanation. If it is simply a placeholder or explanation then it would be helpful if the opening made that clear: ... stressful situation.[3] Please note this is not a practicable therapy. The construct ...

I was going to ask for elaboration. I want to know what emotional approach coping is. I wanted a description. I want to know what emotional processing is and have an example. I want to know what emotional expression is and have an example. I know nothing about the subject of emotional approach coping. And if it is a practicable therapy then my questions still stand. The only description of the subject is, "Emotional approach coping is a psychological construct that involves the use of emotional processing and emotional expression in response to a stressful situation." No other description is given. The article is mostly concerned with history, evidence, factors, and mechanisms. Also, the mechanisms have no context and are confusing for that reason.

Since I don't know anything about the subject, I cannot clarify it.

I hope that the article can be edited to make it clear whether emotional approach coping is an explanation suited for a technical psychological discussion or a practicable therapy that can be understood by the layman. And if it is a therapy then it would be helpful if descriptions were given.

If it helps, I found the organization and detail in Emotional self-regulation to be a good example. There the sections on Theory and Strategies made it clear to me what emotional self-regulation is and how it might be accomplished in practice.
