Needlessly confusing name collision
[edit]This article seems to indicate that:
- Emotiv Systems formed 2003 in Australia made the EPOC
- Emotiv
LifesciencesInc formed 2011 in America made the EPOC+
This article is about Emotiv Inc but despite that the article is named Emotiv.
This article is about the American fork of this project, but despite that the InfoBox says "Founded: 2011 in Australia".
I can clearly see that poor decisions / myopic attachment to particular branding have created two parallel but different entities with confusingly similar names and confusingly similar products in the same space. It seems like that extreme name collision has confused the authors of this article (unsurprisingly).
I'd like to suggest moving this article to Emotiv Inc, if it's about the American fork. I'd like to suggest updating the InfoBox to refer to it being founded in America, if that's accurate.
I think really the introduction needs to clearly and unambiguously lay out spatially the conflicting terms and what they represent. Perhaps in a table.
Year | Country | Business | Product |
---|---|---|---|
2003 | Australia | Emotiv Systems | EPOC |
2011 | America | Emotiv |
EPOC+ |
Otherwise it's crazy confusing. 49.180.85.242 (talk) 12:29, 12 January 2024 (UTC)
