Style splits

[edit]

it appears to me that someone from the Kyokushin organization has target karate style that branched off of kyokushin for not meeting notability guidelines. which is pure bs. if ashihara does not meet notability standards, then kyokushin does not either. looks like a marketing ploy to me, and wikipedia is not suppose to be a marketing tool, rather an informational tool. shidokan also has the same complaint made against it,as does seido juku and enshin, all breakoffs of kyokushin. Pure bs. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.134.171.122 (talk) 15:53, 7 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The problem with many of the martial arts articles is the lack of reliable secondary sources. Most of these articles end up using materials published by the martial arts organizations themselves, like this article. I don't have an answer for it. Cla68 (talk) 09:18, 13 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

What is happening here? First Enshin is a split-off from Ashihara Karate and not Kyokushin Karate. Second: Why was the page of Ashihara Karate deleted? It's a well known split-off from Kyokushin Karate and the parent style of Enshin. Third: Why is this happening to all offshoots styles of Kyokushin on wikipedia?

Seidokaikan, Seido Juku are also targetted and the page of the Kyokushin offshoot Shidokan as also been deleted! WTF is happening here!!??? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.86.41.114 (talk) 10:51, 7 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please restore the Ashihara page and find out why this "Kyokushin virtual dojo storming" is taking place. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.86.41.114 (talk) 10:34, 7 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • What is happening here? The problem any relatively young MA and its styles has is that there is little coverage in MA journals. There is a group of active editors that feel any article without very good references should be deleted. So, what to do?
    • Find some secondary sources in MA journals or in books not written by the article's subject.
    • Ask for the deleted articles to be restored to your user space for development.
    • Consider combining the styles to a single article, so that the references will better support the article.
If you need help, just ask! But finding references is the most important point! jmcw (talk) 11:55, 7 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think this article will be deleted, because it uses a couple of books as sources. Cla68 (talk) 23:19, 7 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
