How to Make this Page Better[edit]

Currently this page seems pretty terrible. Firstly it is pretty out of date now, Plane Stupid and Climate Camp have not really been around for a year or two now. But it also seems weird that it is confined to Environmental Direct Action. I would like to propose that the page is changed to Direct Action in the UK and would then provide an overview of the history and current situation of direct action in the UK.

Some kind of structure would need to be thought up for this. The way I see it it would either be a decade by decade structure i.e. 1940s, 1950s, 1960s current day e.t.c or it would be different areas of direct action e.g environmental direct action, anti-arms, no borders, animal rights, anti-austerity.

I think it would be good have an article structured by decade as there could be quite a lot of overlap between sections and it would then be easier to include things like the CJA, and things which affect the entire movement.

I've just added Big Willow Eco Camp at Crystal Palace 1999 video link Maybe if more people added links like this we could start to form the basis of a more authoriatitve overview and so a better introduction to this area - which is a hugely important era in democratic direct action in Britain. Neutrality[edit]

I'm concerned at the lack of neutrality displayed in this article. It seems to be more about Earth First! than it does about environmental direct action, and sections of the article are written from a POV rather than dispassionately. The references should also be tidied up, instead of placing a link where a reference is required, ref tags should be used along with a reflist section. Yes it needs improvement - I think your criticism is partly based on that this page was originally created from the EF! UK page, but then that was moved to be part of an international EF! page. However, it's also because for nearly 15 years EF! was the main (though not only) part of ecological direct action in the UK - and there's not been so many years since. Government and Corporate Response[edit]

Even the title of this section displays POV. 1st, It conflates the action of the UK government with those of some unnamed corporations without specifying which corporations and what evidence there is for this accusation. 2nd, it presently only describes the government's response; it doesn't actually give any information about actions taken by corporations. In both cases, the oversight seems to go along with the conspiracy theorist cliche of "power elites" in govt and private industry acting together. Greenham Common Women's Peace Camp[edit]
