Overhaul

[edit]

I'm going to be overhauling the entire page over the next few weeks, hopefully, because this is a rather sad-looking article. Anyone (haha, like there's anyone here) object? Envirothon is too awesome for this participant to let the page sit like this. --PrescitedEntity (talk) 18:17, 13 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Peer Review

[edit]

Hi SalaRollins, you've written a very informative, well researched, and easy to read article. Upon reviewing the article history, I noticed that you've made some serious edits to the article and have added the new sections "competition topics" and "results". Your new edits have helped to make this a more well-rounded and informative article. Your sources are reputable and clearly cited, helping to make your article a more reliable source of information. I like how you have included a list of competition topics at the bottom of your article-it really gives the reader an even larger sense of what goes on at the envirothon. I have a few suggestions on how you could improve your article:

·Perhaps under the "external links" section you could include a link to a video from youtube or another video site, showing the envirothon in action.

·Awkward sentence structure, "Currently, forty-four U.S. states and nine Canadian provinces for a collective of over 500,000 students participate in the competition." Reword something like this: "Currently, 500,000 students from forty-four U.S. states and nine Canadian provinces participate in the competition." Also I the "but also includes" in this sentence seems out of place: "Competition participants are generally composed of teams sponsored by school clubs or classes, but also includes teams sponsored by 4H and other such non-scholastic organizations, home-schoolers can also take part as their own team."

Other than those two suggestions, I believe that you have a very strong and well-organized article, great job! Anthro100 (talk) 23:00, 14 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

-Also, you may want to upload a photo to your article. Anthro100 (talk) 15:05, 15 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Peer Review Acknowledgement

[edit]

Thank you for the suggestions! There is only one section I did not edit, which happens to be the "history" section! I will most certainly take your advice, and the final update will be made by Friday, November 16, 2012. As for pictures, I am still awaiting permission from the picture owners to use the two photos I would like to contribute to the article, so those will hopefully be added within the next couple of weeks.

Thanks again. SalaRollins November 15, 2012

Peer Review

[edit]

Hello SalaRollins,

I feel you have greatly contributed to the Wiki-World and have created a very informative, concise, and practical article for others to benefit from. In being the second person to peer-review this article I did not notice any grammatical errors or punctuation issues. However, in regards to formatting, I do think that breaking the "Competition Topics" material into subheadings and then bulleted information would allow it to be more clear and easy to read. As we discussed, I feel that the "History" section is in an appropriate place in the article as I find it to be 'extra information' for the reader. In regards to linking other Wikipedia articles, I found that you included a sufficient amount of links to ensure the reader can be informed on other topics that aren't explained or needed in your article. I did however link 'morphology' to another Wikipedia article for you. Just in case.

All in all, great work SalaRollins and I agree with the above statement that a video could be added to external links of the Envirothon in action. It could add a more contemporary and visual aspect to this already great article. P.S. I love the table you made. Very informative. Caboothby (talk) 16:13, 20 November 2012 (UTC)caboothby[reply]

Hi, SalaRollins, I believe your article is really readable and understandable. Some suggestions from me are to add a photo relate to this topic at the top, and to add some more external links. As you said, it's better to put topics into the list format in the section "competition topic". Chickatack (talk) 16:39, 20 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
