The Name

[edit]

I'm not sure where and how to introduce this on the main page, but Erastes' name is very interesting. a) His first name is Greek, not Latin (he's not the only character with this trait, as Niobe and Lyde, to name but two, share it), it means "lover" ... and while Erast is an uncommon given name in the christian era, I've failed to see any proof that it was given at all in antiquity. b) His last name, "Fulmen", is no family name I've ever seen, so it's probably a nickname, and it means "lightning", though I'm not sure in what honor he wears it. --Svartalf 10:47, 23 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Splitting hairs, I would have said that 'thunderbolt' was a better translation of "fulmen" than 'lightning'.

General Direction

[edit]

_ _ The char hist needs fairly little expansion that i can see, but does need to illuminate his relationships to other characters more by wiki-lks to their character articles and less by telling their stories within his.
_ _ I've little experience with these, but it seems to me that the portion of his chronology that we can know is one subtopic, and how he meshes with other characters to help drive the plot is another, and that they may well deserve separate sections. Do we have some well accepted exemplars of good character articles identified? I should think these would be an important tool, to avoid the default "kid telling a movie" style.
