silver star citation

[edit]

While I couldn't find the full citation. I did find a synopsis on military times.

Citation Needed) - SYNOPSIS: Captain Eric Thor Olson, United States Navy, was awarded the Silver Star for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action while serving as a member of a U.S. Navy SEAL Team, U.S. Naval Special Warfare, assigned to Task Force RANGER, during combat actions in Mogadishu, Somalia, in October 1993. While under withering enemy fire during actions in support of UNOSOM II operations, Captain Olson demonstrated a complete disregard for his own personal safety in the accomplishment of his mission. His actions were in keeping with the highest traditions of U.S. Naval Special Warfare operations and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Naval Service.
Action Date: October 3 - 4, 1993
Service: Navy
Rank: Captain
Company: Naval Special Warfare (SEAL)
Regiment: Task Force Ranger

Is that enough to put on his wiki page or should it be left off of it entirely? thanks Dainomite (talk) 22:59, 23 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Captured in Ukraine

[edit]

Various unofficial pro-Russian Websites are celebrating the capture of Admiral Olson, sometimes calling him General Olsen, in the Battle of Azovstal. Seems improbable to me, but does it rise to the level of a hoax worthy of mention? Jim.henderson (talk) 12:56, 17 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

So far it appears that not a single reputable news outlet is reporting that he was captured, or even that there are rumors and/or fake news reports about it. So in short, no... it shouldn't be noted in the article. (imho) - wolf 17:56, 17 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Awards and Decorations Display

[edit]

Navy ribbons should only be displayed in rows of three, never four like other service branches. 24.230.161.142 (talk) 22:30, 30 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
