QPQ: The EmbraceFayenatic London 16:59, 18 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • The readable prose is long and enough; the day before the expansion began the article had 679 characters which reached 3,810 characters within less than 7 days. The hook is hooky and short enough, but the text reads they were the only "non-Arab" observers at the time. I know we can automatically conclude they were the only "non-western" observers too, but isn't it more interesting to indicate the former, i.e. "non-Arab"? It's up to the OP though. As for the text, I'd suggest adding some 'early life' info to the "Education" section which should then be renamed into 'Early life and education'. Also, the "Personal life" section is too small, merge it into another relevant section plz. No QPQ is required. Best. --Mhhossein talk 12:51, 19 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
    • Thank you. I used "Western" as that's what's stated in the Guardian citation. I'm not sure which way is best to harmonise these, but have changed the hook for now.
    • I did not find any info about his childhood, but found more on his early adult life in another source (also used in ru wiki), so have changed the Education heading as suggested. I have not yet merged the "Personal life" because it doesn't belong in any of the others, and in my experience this short section is not unusual. – Fayenatic London 22:03, 20 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
      • Thanks for the improvements. The article is better now. Ah, checked the Guardian source and found the "western" inside. So, the former wording of hook was more accurate. I modified both the text and the hook in accordance with the Guardian source. Good to go with the hook. --Mhhossein talk 05:53, 21 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Iselilja, Fayenatic, and Mhhossein: london Please write the hook that you are approving so that it can be checked out and promoted. You should start a new hook like
No need for that. I have simply removed the struck-out amendment, reverting to the original hook.– Fayenatic London 08:42, 25 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Fayenatic london The guardian references says, "As the only western doctors present in the Palestinian territory, they became faces of the conflict, describing the stark reality they were living in to the international media, most of which was barred from access." But our hook says only western witnesses. Bruxton (talk) 00:17, 26 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Bruxton Yes; "describing the reality they were living in" = witnesses. OK, so the Guardian names them as "the only Western doctors" and does not explicitly say that there were no Western witnesses in other occupations, but it does say "no western journalists were allowed entry into the territory", and it is the main point of the part that you quoted. If others were there, they did not also fill the role of reporting to the outside world, because it was these two doctors who "became faces of the conflict". So I don't think it's WP:SYNTH or unjustified extrapolation to say "the only Western witnesses". – Fayenatic London 09:39, 26 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Fayenatic london's explanation Seems fair enough to me. They were indeed the only "western witnesses". --Mhhossein talk 11:37, 26 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Iselilja and Mhhossein: Fayenatic london We need to find a reference that states they "were the only Western witnesses in Gaza". This will just get stopped before it gets to a queue if we do not reference the claim. Bruxton (talk) 17:16, 26 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Bruxton: I have added an alternative hook. "in Gaza" could be removed to shorten it. – Fayenatic London 10:06, 2 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
