"Eriophyes padi Nalepa 1890" is the same species as Phyllocoptes eupadi (Newkirk, 1984)

The gall causer on Prunus padus is Phyllocoptes eupadi. It was previously known as Eriophyes padi Nalepa, but this name is apparently not an available name and had to be replaced.

Unfortunately, another species with the same binomial name, Eriophyes padi Domes, 2000, has been described. It is a free-living species on Prunus padus leaves. Adding to the confusion, Phyllocoptes padi Roivainen, 1947 is another free-living species. 128.214.61.145 (talk) 10:00, 10 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
